Running for Longer Life

Woman RunningRunning is among the top choices of people around the globe to stay In shape. A recent study in New York suggests that running in long distances is beneficial in keeping the blood pressure, the blood cholesterol and the blood glucose in its normal and healthy level.

In a survey done with a base of approximately 100,000 male and female subjects who ran, it was found out that those who ran in marathons were less likely to take treatment regimens for hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.

Dr. Paul T. Williams of Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in California said that the results of the survey are suggesting that there is a great advantage in running in long distances. The study was published in the Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise journal.

You may be able to avoid temptations at home, but it’s far more difficult to refuse the sweets, pastries, and office treats brought by clients and fellow officemates. Here are a few tips to dodge temptations in the office and help you stick to your diet:

Bring your own office snack pack.

Having your own snack pack filled with low-calorie but indulgent treats will make it easier for you to resist the fatty cupcakes or choco chip cookies that are available in your office. If you get the urge to snack on something sweet, you can go for the choco chip granola you have in your lunch bag or the Greek yogurt with sweet sprinkles. This way, you’ll still get to satisfy your sweet tooth without putting on the pounds.
